Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems
Our team at RISE specializes in advancing sustainable food systems by applying tailored tools and methodologies for comprehensive sustainability assessments. While our primary engagement is with Topic 1, our expertise is also highly relevant to Topics 2 and 3.
Among EU-funded projects, we have been responsible for sustainability assessment and contributed to system analysis in several initiatives, including the most recent ones: FAIRCHAIN and MicroORC. These projects demonstrate our ability to develop tailored frameworks and address complex sustainability challenges in food systems.
Our key competencies include Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which evaluates environmental impacts across the entire product lifecycle; Social Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA), focusing on assessing social implications throughout the supply chain; and Life Cycle Costing (LCC), which analyzes economic feasibility alongside sustainability objectives. Our team also excels in System Dynamics and Modeling to understand complex interdependencies within food systems and identify leverage points for sustainable transformation, as well as Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) to facilitate informed decision-making by integrating various sustainability criteria.
We are eager to collaborate on projects that address the complexities of sustainable food systems. Our approach ensures that assessments not only capture the dynamic interactions within these systems but also guide decision-making to foster resilience, innovation, and long-term sustainability.
RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is a state-owned research organization dedicated to innovation and sustainable development. Within RISE, the Bioeconomy and Health division focuses on advancing sustainable solutions in agriculture, food production, and health sectors.
Our team at RISE specializes in developing and implementing strategies for sustainable food consumption and production patterns. We conduct life cycle assessments, system analyses, and create customized sustainability frameworks to support the transition toward more sustainable and resilient food systems.
While our primary focus is on Topic 1, our tools and methodologies are adaptable and relevant for addressing challenges in Topic 2 and Topic 3 as well.
