Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems
We are looking for partners for BIOECONOMY PROJECTS that we are currently managing for our affiliates and clients in various EU-member states, as well as in non-EU countries (particularly in the Philippines, Colombia, and Türkiye). These projects are in various stages of research- development and innovation, cultivation, or manufacturing, and cut across the categories of:
- Novel food – particularly natural sweeteners, sugar alternatives, and plants that could potentially prevent diabetes (stevia, coconut sap sugar, magic fruit/miracle fruit/miracle berry, moringa, hibiscus)
- Functional beverages – particularly kombucha, herbal teas, and plant-based waters
- Edible insects – as sustainable protein source (crickets, mealworms, and grasshoppers)
- Bamboo – for engineered wood, furniture, biomass, biofibers, bioplastics
- Banana wastes – converted into microcrystalline cellulose powder, biofibers, bioplastics
We are also interested to join consortia on CIRCULAR ECONOMY PROJECTS that involve bioconversion of agricultural and food wastes, particularly using insect-based and worm-based biotechnology, in order to produce:
- organic fertilizers and biofertilizers
- biopesticides
- animal feed
- pet food
- pharmaceutical and nutraceutical excipients
With regards to insect-based and worm-based biotechnology, we are particularly interested in those that involve:
- Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens)
- Housefly (Musca domestica)
- Mealworms (Tenebrio molitor)
- Silkworms (Bombyx mori)
- Wax Moths (Galleria mellonella)
- Beetles (Coleoptera)
- Cricket (Gryllidae)
- Annelids – earthworms and leeches
- Nematodes
- Enchytraeids
Our ideal partners would be:
- Industry associations, farmers/producers associations, foundations, developmental agencies
- Non-profit foundations or associations representing groups of people with impairments, disabilities, or conditions that can benefit from the projects or from consuming/using the products in our portfolio (for example: Diabetes Association)
- Sources of food wastes such as manufacturing plants, marketplaces, or waste management companies
- Universities, research centers, training institutes
- Suppliers of technologies, equipment, and materials for types of projects in our portfolio
- Distributors, retailers, or commercial consumers of the products in our portfolio
