The project aims to explore consumer attitudes towards edible insect-based foods in three EU member states (Portugal or Spain or Italy or Greece), Germany and Romania or Bulgaria and one associate country, namely Türkiye. The reasons for partner choosing are:

Portugal et al.: A Catholic country, possible edible insects producer-consumer country and a Mediterranean culture country
Germany: A Catholic country, possible edible insects consumer country and the most tourist-sending country to Türkiye
Romania or Bulgaria: An Orthodox country, possible edible insects consumer country and possible edible insects consumer country
Türkiye: A Muslim country, possible edible ininsectroducer-consumer and Mediterranean culture country
These four countries can also be ranked as GDP per capita as Germany, Portugal, Romania, and Türkiye.

Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University is located next to the ancient city of Troy and five hours far from Istanbul by bus (airline transportation is also available). We are a public university with 48.156 (2023) students. As three faculties, Çanakkale Faculty of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, and Faculty of Tourism have collaborated and would like to search for edible insect demand. Then we will plan to search for producing opportunities and marketing in tourism.
