Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems
In collaboration with the Governership of Ankara and the Urban and Regional Planning Department of Çankaya University (Ankara), we are willing to conduct comparative studies on the ecological and socio-economic benefits of local/territorial food systems. We would like to welcome partners who share or complement our research and implementation interests.

We will use the TADYA Collective as a case. TADYA practices agroecological farming in the periphery of Ankara. It includes a short supply chain (distribution within Ankara) and a local participatory guarantee system (PGS). We want to compare TADYA's activities and effects with those of the widespread market system, on the basis of parametres such as; life cycles and ecological/carbon footprints of different product groups, socio-economic effects of the activities, and food loss and waste. We also wish to create agroecological production projections for Ankara in general, through different scenarios, and also develop policy and legislation recommendations in favour of local and agroecological food systems.
The Four Seasons Ecological Living Association (Dört Mevsim Ekolojik Yaşam Derneği) coordinates agroecological transition efforts in the peri-urban Tahtaciorencik Village of Ankara (https://tahtaciorencik.org/). TADYA currently incudes 16 families who are producing and directly selling agroecologically grown and processed local food. TADYA and the association:

- promote high-quality food production with eco-friendly methods.
- bring urban consumers and food communities into close contact with farmers/producers, creating opportunities for mutual learning and solidarity
- strive to build resilience in the face of the climate crisis
- foster food securityby via polyculture and prolongation of the production season
- apply participatory governance at the local level
- disseminate the philosophy and methods of agroecology at every scale.

TADYA started its nature-friendly and community-supported food production and supply in 2012. Currently it includes 15 small-scale producer families, all applying agroecological farming practices. TADYA already hints at the ecological, social and economic benefits of agroecological, local food systems. The village has become a living lab, hosting about 10 academic research projects in various disciplines.

Our association has co-implemented two national projects on agroecology and resillience, bth funded by UNDP GEF Small Grants Program (SGP). It is a member of Urgenci (The Interational Network of Community-Supported Agriculture) and the Mediterranean Network of Local Solidarity Partnerships for Agroecology (LSPA) since 2016. We have recently Contributed to the preparation of farmer training materials for "climate-resilient agriculture and agroecology for small-scale farmers and vulnerable groups" project for the farmers of the Mardin, Diyarbakır and Batman provinces, as part of the the ProColi (Protection, Cohesion and Livelihoods For Vulnerable Communities in Southeast Turkey) project, conducted by Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Turkey.
