Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems
As Konya Metropolitan Municipality, we are eager to actively contribute to projects aimed at creating sustainable and resilient food systems. Our "Pet Food Production from Food Waste" project, currently under development, is designed to offer an innovative solution in this field.
The project envisions:
Establishing a facility where organic food waste can be processed into cat and dog food using advanced techniques.
Collecting food waste from public institutions, restaurants, and other sources, transporting it with refrigerated vehicles, and sterilizing it to enable recovery.
Producing high-quality and cost-effective pet food for stray animals, contributing to both effective waste management and social welfare.
Our project aligns with the EU’s vision for sustainable food systems by optimizing waste management, promoting efficient resource use, and encouraging community engagement in this transformation.
By participating in this call, we aim to benefit from innovative ideas to enhance our project during its development phase and explore collaboration opportunities to learn from European practices. Such a partnership would increase the impact of our project and position it as a model initiative across Europe.
We are ready to collaborate on infrastructure planning, process optimization, and creating networks of cooperation as part of the development of this project.
