Topic 2: New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand-and-supply reorientation
Interested in entering a project where, we can give support in I+D activities related to by-products valorisation using our expertise in bioprocessing (enzyme and fermentation technology) and downstream processing (green solvent extraction and enzyme asssisted extraction as well as in purification by membrane filtration and adsorption), and bioactives (phenolics, protein and peptides) characterisation (chemical and functional); we have a food grade pilot plant facility and are well connected with the regional/national food industry.
AZTI (www.azti.es) is a science and technology centre specialising in the marine environment and food.AZTI Food Research, offers innovative solutions to the food industry to develop new or improved products solutions where prime health, quality, food safety and identity, respecting the environment and the consumer as its centerpiece. The organisation supports the food industry in its sustainable development, implementing measures to improve its environmental performance and economic and social development. AZTI is currently participating in the Future FoodS partnership as a food processing living lab and has been recently selected as one of the light houses living labs. We provide cutting-edge, value-added products and technologies grounded in sound science and research. The Food Research Department´s expertise encompasses the whole food value chain with particular focus on circular economy. AZTI´s Efficient and Sustainable Processes Group has much expertise in the valorisation of food by-products by enzymatic technology, downstream processing, the characterization of food ingredients and the use of a wide range of technologies for the development of novel foods. In addition, AZTI has food grade pilot plant facilities as well as a fully equipped experimental kitchen and chemical and analytical research facilities.
