TECNALIA is the largest applied research and technological development centre in Spain,
a European benchmark and member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance. With more than 1,500 experts from 28 nationalities, its mission is to transform technological research into prosperity, and its vision is to anticipate the future as the leading agent of transformation in companies and society, adapting them to the challenges of an ever faster evolving world. In our Food & Health Department, we accompany food companies from the conception to the development of innovative products. We are working in the selection and obtaining of natural food ingredients as well as in protection, stabilization and controlled release of food ingredients with the overall goal to improve properties, nutritional value and functionality of food products. Personalized diets and smart nutrition are also part of our research efforts. To perform our research activities, we are relying on state-of-the-art equipment for analysis (GC-MS, UPLC-MS, HPLC-MS), reactors for extraction in different sizes (Büchi Mini Pilot, Pressure extraction, Accelerated Solvent Extraction, etc.), bioreactors for fermentation (2L, 5L, 42L scale), solid state fermentation (tray reactor) as well as down stream processing equipment such as membrane filtration, fluidised bed drying, spray drying and freeze drying.
We are looking to join forces with an existing proposal in topic 2 - New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand and supply reorientation - based on the WIDENING option proposed by the call. We are eligible for funding by the Basque funding agency ELIKA with a funding opportunity of 100.000,- €.
