Sustainable food production systems: Understanding nutrient cycling, soil health, and biodiversity to optimize agricultural sustainability.
Post-treatment of agricultural waste: Transforming agricultural by-products into value-added products like biodegradable packaging materials, bioenergy, and organic fertilizers.
Alternative protein production: Exploring sustainable protein alternatives.
Digital technologies for food supply chains: Improving transparency and traceability, particularly for managing agricultural waste and its conversion into value-added products.
I seek to contribute to consortia focused on reducing the environmental footprint of food production and advancing food system resilience through nutrient management, biorefinery technologies, digitalization, and circular economy practices.
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, specializing in sustainable agriculture, climate change mitigation strategies, and environmental impact assessments. My research focuses on the intersections of agroecosystems and climate, with particular emphasis on carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and sustainable food systems. I have significant experience in studying nutrient management, bioeconomy pathways, and strategies for reducing agricultural emissions under changing climate conditions. Additionally, my work integrates innovative solutions to enhance the sustainability and resilience of food systems through the circular economy. This includes the post-treatment of agricultural waste to produce packaging materials, bioenergy, fertilizers, and green protein production. I also explore the use of seaweed for fertilizer production and conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) of agroforestry systems and other sustainable agricultural practices.
