Topic 2: New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand-and-supply reorientation
We would like to offer our services and expertise to a consortium, and/or discuss formation of a consortium to work on topics of common interest. Our main areas of expertise and interest are within marine biomass processing (seaweeed, and other marine side strams) and biopolymers, enzymatic/microbial processing, food safety characterization, microbiology, fermentation (for preservation and production of food ingredients), chemical characterization, cellular agriculture, in vitro (high-throughput) cell-based assays, formulation.
SINTEF, represented by the Department of Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, is a non-profit research institute with >2000 employees based in Norway. Our main mission is to develop technology for value creation in industry and a better society. We have a broad network of industry and research collaborators in and outside of Norway, and have coordinated several ERA-Nets/Partnerships as well as larger EU projects. The Department has state-of-the-art infrastructure in fermentation, biomass processing, analysis, and high-throughput screening.
