Topic 2: Towards diverse, sustainable and circular food processing systems
We are interested in joining or co-developing a consortium under Topic 2, focusing on circular food processing systems, valorisation of by-products, and food system sustainability assessment, particularly in territorial, island and peripheral contexts.
We are especially interested in collaborating with research institutions, universities, SMEs, and public bodies working on circular bioeconomy, food processing, sustainability metrics, and system-level innovation.
Synergies with existing initiatives are envisaged, allowing knowledge transfer, upscaling potential and impact-oriented implementation.
SDAFl is an organisation engaged in applied sustainability, food systems transformation and territorial innovation, with experience in participatory approaches, pilot territories and stakeholder engagement. Our work includes linking circular economy principles, food system resilience and sustainability transitions, particularly in insular and vulnerable regions.
The team combines practical implementation capacity with strong links to research, policy and local actors. We contribute to FutureFoodS consortia through:
- system-level framing of food processing and circularity,
- integration of environmental, social and economic sustainability dimensions,
- articulation between production, processing, consumption and governance,
- real-life testing environments using a living lab approach,
- support to impact pathways, theory of change and stakeholder engagement.
The collaboration is also supported by ongoing research in Sustainability Science, ensuring scientific robustness and alignment with EU food system transformation objectives.
