General objective
Analyze the role of eco-labels as governance mechanisms between European importers and exporters, in relation to:
• transparency,
• trust,
• sustainability,
• and contractual fairness in agri-food chains.
Scientific objectives
1. Map the main eco-labels used in sectors importing into France (seafood, fruit and vegetables, processed products).
2. Study how these eco-labels influence importer-exporter relations: trust, credibility, commitment, image, risk-taking, dependence, opportunism, etc.
3. Measure the performance and sustainable performance associated with eco-labels (environmental, social, governance, export, financial, new product performance).
4. Co-construct a “fair” governance model for eco-labels, involving all stakeholders (exporters, importers, certified fisheries, certifiers, distributors, NGOs, etc.).
5. Develop a digital dashboard bringing together label criteria, traceability data, and key indicators to facilitate the choice of eco-labels and/or better understand the differences between eco-labels.
Aquimer is a French cluster of private and public organisations specializing in the valorization of aquatic products. Our ambition is to reconcile the scarcity of resources with the growing demand of the population, in a perspective of sustainable development. Aquimer is composed of more than 160 members including companies, technology and innovations centers, professional organisations, research and training centers and public institutions. This network of members covers a wide range of activities related to aquatic products and it allows us to cover the whole SEAFOOD value chain: from fisheries and fish farms, to retailers, fish processing and restaurant and supermarkets.
