Topic 2: Towards diverse, sustainable and circular food processing systems
PMO Partners is interested in joining FutureFoodS consortia focusing on sustainable, health-oriented and circular food systems, with particular emphasis on algae-based ingredients and bioactive compounds. We contribute by integrating industrial algae producers and processors from our portfolio into research-driven projects, supporting the co-development, validation and upscaling of innovative food ingredients. Our interest lies in strengthening links between scientific research and industrial implementation, ensuring food-grade compliance, scalability and long-term impact of project outcomes across European food value chains.
PMO Partners – Algae & Bio-based Industry Contribution (FutureFoodS)
PMO Partners seeks to join FutureFoodS consortia addressing sustainable, circular and health-driven food systems, with a specific focus on algae-based ingredients, bioactive compounds, and bio-based functional materials.
Within our portfolio, we represent industrial partners specialised in:
• Algae-derived food and nutraceutical ingredients, including alginates and other hydrocolloids with applications in digestive health, functional foods, and clean-label formulations;
• Bulk production of bio-based compounds suitable for food, pharma-food interfaces, and health-oriented products;
• Sustainable processing and valorisation of marine and biological resources, aligned with circular economy principles.
In a FutureFoodS project, PMO Partners contributes by enabling the integration of these algae and bio-based companies as industrial partners, ensuring alignment between scientific objectives and real-world applicability. Our role is to support:
• Co-development of innovative algae-based ingredients with demonstrable health, functional or technological benefits;
• Assessment of scalability, food-grade compliance, and industrial feasibility of research outcomes;
• Strengthening circular value-chain narratives, including sustainable sourcing and bioresource valorisation;
• Positioning results for future market uptake and industrial exploitation, without compromising scientific ambition.
By connecting applied research with credible algae and bio-based industry actors, PMO Partners helps consortia reinforce impact, relevance, and long-term sustainability in line with FutureFoodS objectives.
