Topic 1: Domestic food practices for enhancing sustainable and healthy diets
I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. Together with a colleague based in the Netherlands, we are preparing a proposal for the Topic 1. Both of us has strong background in Food Science and AI.
What we bring
We can contribute strong expertise in:
• Large Language Models (LLMs) for personalised/interactive dietary guidance, evidence-based information delivery, and behaviour-change support
• Computer vision for household-level food practice sensing (e.g., meal/ingredient recognition, food waste logging)
• Mobile app / digital tool development to deliver and evaluate interactive solutions for sustainable healthy food choices
What we are looking for
We are particularly seeking university and/or industry partners with expertise in one or more of the following:
• Nutrition & dietetics (diet quality metrics, nutrient profiling, dietary guidelines, vulnerable groups)
• Datasets & data collection (dietary intake, household food waste, purchasing/recipe data, food environments; data governance/GDPR)
• Consumer/household behaviour & interventions (co-creation, living labs/field validation, evaluation design)
• (Optional) Policy/retail/food environment stakeholders to enable real-life testing and uptake
