Topic 1: Domestic food practices for enhancing sustainable and healthy diets
AI-Enabled Smart Refrigeration for Household Food Waste Prevention
Households represent a critical leverage point for advancing sustainable and healthy diets, yet food waste, suboptimal storage practices, and food safety risks continue to limit progress. As a refrigerator manufacturer, we address these challenges through AI-enabled smart refrigeration solutions that prioritize food storage optimization, hygiene, and the preservation of nutritional quality at household level.
Our smart refrigerator integrates embedded cameras, sensors, and AI-based monitoring to This enables households to make informed consumption decisions, reduce avoidable food waste, and improve dietary planning.
Advanced refrigeration features—including humidity-controlled compartments, air purification, photocatalytic systems, and UV-based treatments—are deployed to enhance food safety and extend freshness. In the vegetable compartment, dedicated vitamin-preserving light technologies are used to support the retention of sensitive micronutrients, helping maintain the nutritional value of fresh produce and encouraging healthier dietary choices. In addition, a dedicated hygiene compartment equipped with UVC light technology enables homogeneous disinfection of food and packaging surfaces, reducing microbial load and preventing cross-contamination. By combining intelligent monitoring, hygienic storage, and nutrient-preserving technologies, our solution supports sustainable household food practices while safeguarding health and food security. Building on our extensive experience in refrigeration technologies and household food storage solutions, we are actively seeking to join or contribute to a consortium under Topic 1: Domestic food practices for enhancing sustainable and healthy diets. As the final step in the food chain before consumption, domestic food storage in refrigerators plays a critical role in ensuring food safety, preserving nutritional value, and directly influencing end-user behavior. Through direct daily interaction with households, smart refrigeration solutions offer a unique and effective leverage point to support healthier dietary practices and sustainable consumption. We believe our expertise and technologies can provide tangible added value to collaborative research and innovation efforts within this topic.
