Topic 1: Domestic food practices for enhancing sustainable and healthy diets
We are interested in participating as a research and methodological partner in projects addressing dietary shifts towards sustainable and healthy food practices at household level.
We seek cooperation with research organisations, public health and nutrition experts, social scientists, policy actors and food system stakeholders to integrate environmental sustainability assessment into household-level food practices, dietary strategies and consumer-oriented solutions.
Our contribution focuses on providing robust, evidence-based sustainability metrics, data analysis and decision-support tools to support interventions, policies and innovative solutions targeting diverse household types, including vulnerable population groups.
Our organisation is a research group at the University of Cantabria specialised in the sustainability assessment of food systems and diets, with a strong focus on the environmental impacts of food consumption patterns from a life cycle perspective.
We apply Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), environmental footprint indicators and multi-criteria sustainability approaches to analyse foods, diets and household food practices, including food waste. Our work supports the generation of robust, evidence-based information that can inform consumers, policy makers and other stakeholders on the environmental implications of dietary choices.
The group has extensive experience in European and national R&I projects, contributing to initiatives that link sustainable diets, consumer behaviour, food waste reduction and policy-relevant sustainability assessment. We support projects aiming to design and test interventions, data collection methods and decision-support tools that help reconnect household food choices with broader health, environmental and societal objectives.
