Topic 3: Importance of trust and transparency
KORA Strategy would be interested in contributing to Topic 3 from a planning and governance perspective, with a focus on how trust and transparency are shaped through territorial context, institutional arrangements, and everyday decision-making around food. Our background lies in socio-ecological systems research, food planning, and applied project work with local authorities and stakeholder networks, where we regularly work with fragmented, uneven, and incomplete data rather than fully standardised systems. In this context, we are particularly interested in how sustainability information and quality claims are interpreted across different places and social groups, and how mismatches between data, communication, and lived experience can undermine trust.
Within a consortium, KORA could contribute to the design and testing of context-sensitive transparency approaches that connect labelling or digital information tools with spatial, governance, and participation dimensions (e.g. origin, production practices, territorial impacts). We are especially interested in empirical work that examines how consumers, producers, and local actors engage with sustainability information in real-life settings, and in developing evaluation frameworks that capture not only behavioural change but also perceived credibility, legitimacy, and fairness. Our role would be to support the integration of social and territorial insights into broader labelling or digital transparency frameworks, ensuring they remain understandable, credible, and relevant across diverse regional contexts.
KORA Strategy is a research and consultancy studio based in İzmir working on sustainability transitions in territorial and socio-ecological systems. The studio supports public institutions, research consortia, and local stakeholders through applied research, spatial analysis, and participatory approaches that inform evidence-based decision-making. Its work focuses on understanding how environmental, social, and economic processes interact across places, and how governance, data, and policy instruments shape outcomes on the ground.
KORA has experience in EU-funded and international projects and contributes to the development of analytical frameworks, indicators, and evaluation approaches related to sustainability policies, resource use, and regional development. A core strength lies in translating complex datasets and research insights into formats that are usable for planners, policymakers, and practitioners, while remaining attentive to institutional constraints and local contexts.
Positioned at the interface between research and practice, KORA Strategy acts as an integrative partner that helps align evidence, governance processes, and implementation pathways in support of resilient, transparent, and inclusive territorial transitions.
