Yalova Municipality
Yalova Municipality will participate in the project as an Associated Partner and self-funded entity. It will provide a washing facility for household consumers at the neighborhood vegetable and fruit market and another at the wholesale vegetable and fruit market for mass food production. It will assign personnel to work at these two locations. It will provide the necessary infrastructure such as electricity and water for these locations. It will store the washing water from the system and use it for washing at the market and wholesale market locations. It will provide access to and information for urban food environments, neighborhood vegetable and fruit markets, wholesale vegetable and fruit markets, and local food service businesses. It will set up a stand at the neighborhood vegetable and fruit market where the washing system is installed for at least 3 months (on market days) to provide information, direct consumers to the washing facility, and promote the project. It will assign personnel for this purpose. It will be the umbrella organization for the “Clean Vegetables – Safe Table” Certification and Service Model. It will ensure the announcement of the model throughout the province, the provision of certification services, its implementation, and its monitoring. It will also ensure the continuation of this model after the project is completed. The municipality will contribute to the real-world applicability and scalability of the developed water-saving vegetable washing system by supporting the pilot application, stakeholder participation, and policy-oriented dissemination activities. Yalova Municipality will support the pilot application, stakeholder participation, and policy-oriented dissemination activities to contribute to the real-world applicability and scalability of the developed water-saving vegetable washing system. If positive feedback is received, the municipality will install the washing system for household consumers, developed as part of the project, in the 2nd Indoor Market within the boundaries of the Central District using its own resources.
