We are looking to join a consortium as a Work Package Leader or Specialised Partner. We are specifically interested in Topic 3 (Trust & Transparency labels), bringing our experience in designing understandable eco-labels and reducing cognitive load for vulnerable consumers, followed by Topic 1 (Domestic food practices & dietary shifts). However, we are open to exploring any topic where the challenge is behavioural and the goal is social impact: if it is impact-driven and involves behavioral change, please reach out. We provide the "Gold Standard" of evidence required by the Call, using for instance Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs) to prove causality and measure actual behavioural change.
The Behavioural Insights Team (BIT) is a global mission-led research and innovation consultancy. Originally born within the UK Government, we apply a deep understanding of human behaviour to improve public services and people’s lives. BIT France, the French entity of the BIT group, is seeking to contribute its expertise to a consortium for this call.
BIT combines deep expertise in psychology and economics with rigorous evaluation methods (Randomised Controlled Trials). While we have run over 1,800 projects globally across all policy areas, sustainable food is one of our flagship specialisms. We have published a major report detailing 12 behavioural strategies to achieve this (https://www.bi.team/publications/a-menu-for-change/) and have delivered over 20 applied projects in this space, including:
- School Canteens: Interventions to encourage healthier, plant-based choices in UK schools.
- Retail Partnerships: Trials with major supermarkets to prompt shoppers to substitute meat with plant-based proteins.
- Online Choice Architecture: Large-scale online experiments (in the UK, Germany, and Mexico) testing how 'framing' and defaults influence the selection of sustainable options on food delivery apps.
- Food Waste: Field trials to reduce plate waste in professional canteens (e.g., in the UAE).
