Topic 2: Towards diverse, sustainable and circular food processing systems
WIISE is interested in participating in projects involving the adoption and/or improvement of innovative processes with novel ingredients, including the ones falling under the Novel Food Regulation, or traditional ingredients reformulated or presented in an innovative form (also potentially considered as 'novel food'). These food products should possess high nutritional, healthy and safety values which may guarantee economic exploitation for operators, and benefits for consumers.
We can support different organisations in guaranteeing the compliance with Novel Food Regulation, Nutrition and Health Claims Regulation, Food Information to Consumers Regulation and other applicable rules for innovative and sustainable products to be introduced in the market. A view of exploitation of industry side streams (e.g. by-products, animal by-products, waste) could be explored to improve the sustainability of the processes for food and non-food sectors (e.g. feed, cosmetics, medical products, fertilisers). Lobbying activities and policy brief drafting may be performed to increase the chance of adoption of new policies and regulations for the food sector in terms of novelty, sustainability and circularity.
WIISE Srl Società Benefit is a SME dedicated in supporting the compliance of EU and national food legislation by food businesses and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. researchers, industries, policy makers, associations) in economic activities and research and innovation projects. The organisation aims to increase the exploitation on the market of high nutritional and safe food products, supporting economic value for food companies and increasing the nutritional and healthy benefit for consumers while ensuring the integrity of their interests against e.g. food frauds, deceptive commercial practices.
