Topic 2: Towards diverse, sustainable and circular food processing systems
We are looking to join or co-develop projects that focus on valorization of liquid side-streams and nutrient recovery within food and biorefinery processes.
Our interests include:
Recycling and treatment of process water streams from food, feed and bio-based industries
Recovery of nitrogen, phosphorus and organic carbon using electrochemical, biological and physicochemical methods
Safe water and nutrient reuse for agricultural or industrial applications
Assessment of environmental performance and system modelling for circular nutrient and water loops.
We can contribute as a research and demonstration partner, providing laboratory and pilot-scale facilities as well as analytical and modelling expertise.
Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) is a Finnish higher-education and RDI institution specializing in applied environmental and process engineering. Our Environmental Engineering group combines laboratory experimentation, analytical chemistry, and system-level modelling to develop circular solutions for water, wastewater and nutrient management.
Key expertise areas include:
Wastewater treatment and reuse
Nutrient recovery from source-separated sanitation and industrial side-streams
Advanced oxidation and electrochemical processes
Biogas and bio-based energy systems
Life-cycle and circularity assessment
TAMK operates modern laboratory facilities for water and wastewater studies. We are experienced in EU-funded research and innovation projects and eager to contribute to FutureFoodS partnerships advancing circular food-processing and resource-efficient systems.
