AHRI DAGDAS INTERNATIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE (BDIAR) is a non-profit state institution affiliated with the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, conducting R&D studies in the fields of agriculture and animal husbandry. The institute's national area of responsibility comprises the provinces of Konya, Aksaray, Karaman, Niğde, Nevşehir, Kayseri, Sivas, Eskişehir, Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar, Isparta, and Burdur. Its international area of responsibility covers countries in Europe, the Middle East, the Caucasus, Central Asia, the Balkans, and North and Central Africa. In addition to plant (cereals, industrial crops, edible grain legumes, medicinal and aromatic plants, pasture and forage crops) and animal production (small ruminants, poultry), the institute conducts R&D studies on topics such as the conservation and maintenance of biological diversity, the conservation and maintenance of plant and animal genetic resources, plant and animal socio-economics, plant line and variety development, development of plant and animal production techniques, animal type and breed development, animal nutrition, animal welfare, housing systems, and biotechnology. The institute is the world's third and Turkey's first drought testing center. Its mission is to develop and disseminate climate change-adapted, drought-resistant/tolerant plants, thereby accelerating adaptation. The institute is also the coordinator of the International Winter Wheat Improvement Program (IWWIP). The aim of this program is to facilitate material exchange and provide breeding material support to winter wheat-growing countries (Central West Asia and North Africa - CWANA), primarily Turkey. The institute has 2,500 sheep and 10,000 decares of farmland used for various R&D studies and training. Furthermore, the institute's researchers collaborate with FAO, PRIMA, and Erasmus+.
