Topic 2: New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand-and-supply reorientation
We would like to offer our services and expertise to a consortium. Our main areas of expertise and interest are within marine biomass processing (seaweed, mussels, marine side-streams) and cell based food products. We are doing applied research in the field of development of foods and food ingredients and food formulation and reformulation (replacement/reduction of ingredients)
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, based in Germany, is a leading applied research organization.
Fraunhofer IMTE based in Luebeck is a research institution developing intelligent systems and processes for health in the fields of medical technology and aquaculture. The Food Technology group is part of the aquaculture department. We are engaged in research and utilisation of aquatic resources in the field of food technology. We identify substances from marine sources (such as algae, mussels, fishery by-products, fish cells) and develop processes for the production of novel food products and ingredients. These products represent high-quality and safe end products that also take into account aspects such as health and sustainability.
