Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems
As the Research Center for Geographical Indications in Akdeniz University, we would like to lead a research project in relation to all three of the Topics. We believe that good governance of geographical indications will ensure sustainability in the value chain to which they belong in economic, social and environmental dimensions and resilience to various climatic and economic external factors. For this reason, we believe that the right practices for geographical indications will bring radical changes to food systems and ensure that the system remains sustainable.
Akdeniz University Geographical Indications Research Center was established to conduct research for the development of an ideal geographical indications system in Turkey. The Center includes economists, food engineers, agricultural engineers, gastronomes, business managers and lawyers. The Center has the potential to take part in both domestic and international research projects, has extensive fieldwork experience and the ability to conduct a variety of qualitative and quantitative field analyses.
