Topic 2: New foods – Fostering innovations in food design, processing and supply via demand-and-supply reorientation
We are eager to contribute our expertise to an existing consortium or explore opportunities to form a new one. Our primary focus lies in the characterization and utilization of marine biomass, with an emphasis on diverse raw materials sourced from fisheries and aquaculture.
Located on Norway's west coast, we are strategically positioned near the country’s largest biomarine industry cluster. This proximity allows us to leverage an extensive network of industry collaborators, granting access to a wide variety of raw materials and by-products. Our research is typically centered on protein-, lipid-, and carbohydrate-rich biomass available in significant volumes in the region.
We offer in-depth expertise in areas such as chemical and biochemical quality assessment including annual variations, shelf-life analysis, nutritional profiling, bioactivity evaluation, as well as bioprocessing opportunities, food ingredients and flavors. Additionally, we focus on carbon- and nitrogen-rich side streams, which can be repurposed as substrates for industrial cultivation of innovative food sources such as pro- and eukaryotes.
