Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems
As the Ankara Governorship, we are open to cooperation in FutureFoodS projects that promote sustainable and resilient local food systems. Our areas of potential cooperation are as follows:
Policy development and advocacy:
● Supporting the development and implementation of policy proposals that will strengthen small-scale and local food production in Ankara.
● Contributing to legislative arrangements to facilitate agroecological and participatory guarantee systems.
Training and capacity development:
● Organizing training, workshops and awareness-raising activities for food system stakeholders (producers, policy makers, consumers, food communities).
● Preparing educational materials to disseminate the principles and benefits of sustainable and resilient food systems.
Data collection and analysis:
● Conducting comparative studies on the ecological and socio-economic impacts of local and widespread market systems.
● Supporting the mapping and profiling of environmentally sensitive small-scale producers in Ankara.
Practical applications:
● Strengthening production and food safety processes within the TADYA producers’ collective that operates in the Güdül district of Ankara.
● Initiating and promoting pilot projects for circular economy models in agricultural areas in the urban periphery.
Networking and participation:
● Facilitate multi-stakeholder collaborations that bring together public, academic, civil society and private sector interests.
● Increase the impact of projects by sharing our expertise in regional planning and administrative governance.
With our national partners in Ankara, we aim to coordinate, or be part of a FutureFoodS project consortium, with our experience in managing multi-stakeholder collaborations and implementing effective programs.
Ankara Governorship, as the highest administrative authority in Ankara Province, is responsible for the execution of public services, supporting regional development and ensuring coordination between state institutions, municipalities and civil society organizations.
Our duties and responsibilities are as follows:
Governance and regional development:
● Lead strategic initiatives and projects aimed at increasing economic, social and environmental sustainability.
● Ensure cross-sectoral collaboration in regional planning, public policy development and community participation processes.
Public services and social support:
● Facilitate access to public services, ensure the well-being of all citizens and promote inclusive development.
● Implement programs aimed at increasing equal opportunities and social solidarity to support disadvantaged groups.
Collaboration and innovation:
● Promote innovative solutions through collaborations with universities, research institutions and the private sector.
● Develop solutions to current challenges through environmental sustainability and community-focused approaches.
Ankara Governorship aims to strengthen local capacity, produce solutions for climate change and create resilient, self-sufficient societies with its commitment to sustainable development and willingness for active participation in international projects.
