Topic 1: The way towards sustainable and resilient food systems
We are interested in joining a consortium requiring monitoring the crop conditions in a precise and sustainable way. Sensory-Fi S.L. has developed the LiFi4Food product (https://www.lifi4food.com/), an integrated, innovative, and sustainable system for monitoring and controlling environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, soil moisture, and illumination) in high-tech greenhouses and vertical farms. The core element of LiFi4Food product is a wireless and battery-free Internet of Things (IoT) device (sensor) that enables crop monitoring in a precise and sustainable way. Our battery-free sensors reduce labor and maintenance costs and the risk for hazardous leakage of batteries’ chemicals into the crops, soil, or other systems within the greenhouses and vertical farms. The unprecedented characteristics of LiFi4Food product allow deploying a dense network of battery-free IoT devices (up to one per square meter) that provides real-time and fine-grained data suitable to feed big data analytics systems.
Sensory-Fi S.L. is a Spanish start-up providing sustainable solutions for precision agriculture. It is composed of an entrepreneurial team of telecommunication engineers with vast experience in exploiting wireless communication technologies to connect battery-free sensors to the Internet. Sensory-Fi S.L. was created with the know-how from more than 10 years of research at IMDEA Networks, a research organization on data networks whose multinational team is engaged in cutting-edge fundamental science and technology.
